The Fort Dorchester Track Team is starting off their 2016 season with great efforts. Placing in the top three at their first meet, they are trying to go to state like they have in the previous year. In 2015 they won state with the four by four and four by eight runs. This year the team is striving to not only remain state champs of the four by four and the four by eight, but to win more events like the 100-800 meter runs.
The track team have a higher possibility of achieving their goal more than ever as it can be seen that more potentials have shown up on the field more than ever. Many that have observed the team last year are now getting involved because of the great things they saw. New runners are progressively becoming better as they watch and learn from seniors on varsity. They are learning new warm ups, stretches, and exercises that help them be prepared to run more than anything before. Although they’re making headway the coaches still are not easing up on them.
With coaches like; Quinn, White, and Stille the track team will never slack. The coaches remind the team that they can always improve, even though they are doing good so far. Coaches constantly push them to their limits so that they can go beyond them. As I can say from personal experience their method of giving your all in practice so that you can do so in a meet is very effective. Doing this has proven to be truly difficult as some runners have either quit or join to become a jumper. However,we will see if their hard work pay off as they are steadily heading to state.
