On Thursday April 21st, 2016 the singer known as Prince was pronounced dead at 10:07 a.m. His body was found in the elevator of his estate in Chanhassen, Minnesota. Of course the dispatch service was called but when medics got to Prince’s house their attempts at revival were unsuccessful. He was only 57 years old.
Although he had been suffering with the flu for several weeks, his death still comes as a shock for he still performed while sick and was released from the hospital he went to.
When news spread of Prince’s
death hundreds gathered at his estate to pay tribute to the late singer. Radio shows and tv networks also paid tribute by playing hit songs from the singer and his famous movie “Purple Rain.” Around Minneapolis were people having dance parties to Prince’s songs and local musicians made covers of his them. After hearing of the death many fans wore Prince’s signature color of purple on Thursday while many national landmarks and skyscrapers (Madison Square Garden, Terminal Tower, etc.) turned the lights of their structures purple to commemorate him.
Prince leaves behind his legacy, his music, and his $300 million estate. Since Prince has passed, his music sales have gone up. Fans favorite albums include: 1999, Lovesexy, The Black Album, and Parade. Prince continued have a mind for music even when being in the business for so long. In fact his last album was just last year in 2015. Although gone many will continue to have his stories of music in their heads forever.
