The Fort Dorchester High School 2016 Talent Show was a relative success. With students, Daevon Dixon and Jamie Fuller, as host they had a comedic style that made everything go along smoothly. The acts line-up was: 1. “We R CRW3D”, 2. Markela Guinyard, 3. Hassan Archie, 4. Jeremiah Go, 5. Kristy Mukhopadhyay, 6. Skylar Denton, 7. Catherine Massey and Kelly Wang, 8. Jharal Griffin leading “The Vibes”, 9. Mary Patrucco, 10. Monai Mitchell, 11. Briana Sharper, and 12. “Chocolate Rain.” preforming acts either sang or danced, but overall entertained the audience with their unique style.
Crowd reaction and applause definitely revealed which performances were remarkable. Although some acts may have been a little off with their singing and dancing. N
one of them lacked confidence on the stage which was what made this year’s talent show special. Jeremiah Go, Skylar Denton, Mary Patrucco, Monai Mitchell, Brianna Sharper, and “Chocolate Rain” seemed to be crowd favorites.
The talent show lasted approximately an hour and 30 minutes starting at 6:00 p.m. At the end of the show, all the acts lined up on the stage of the auditorium and waited to here the judges decisions. There was a spot for third, second, and first place and the judges’ decisions were similar to the crowd’s reactions. In 3rd place was Catherine Massey and Kelly Wang with their dance routine, 2nd was a tie between Monai Mitchell’s dancing and Brianna Sharper’s singing, and in 1st place was the group “Chocolate Rain.” It is fair to say that “Chocolate Rain” received the most applause, but that judges based it on their talent. 1st place won a $300 prize. So $100 was given evenly to Mike Brown, Kevin Curenton, and Rhajon Hicks.
